The Hotel is placed in the access of the main entrance of the city of Covilhã, 5 minutes from the center and next to the University. It's a perfect starting point for visits to the historical and medieval villages and the highest mountain of Portugal-"Serra da Estrela". As for business trips. In the Winter, Covilhã is main access door to the mountain, providing easy access the Ski Station. Also, it's known for the excellent gastronomic portfolio with several regional specialties.

Lobby Bar: Elegant and comfortable, modernly decorated, it offers an adjacent place to the front desk and one arcade room in the first floor. Half board / full board is served at the Hotel Tryp Dona Maria, situated about 150 mt and it includes: soup, main course, dessert, drink and coffee.The breakfast buffet is served in a room with natural light.

Area information

Situated about 1 km from the centre of Covilhã and from Universidade Beira Interior, the hotel Santa Eufémia is very close to Serra da Estrela and from the tower's access. In a quick car ride from Castelo Branco (45 km), Porto's Airport (200 km) and Lisbon (270 km).
It is the ideal starting point, either to visit several historical villages and the beauty of the highest mountain of Portugal, or for your business journeys.

Covilhã, doorstep to Serra da Estrela, is the land of wool industry, place of birth of the discoverers of the 1500, today is the cosmopolite University City with plenty of night entertainment. It is situated in the southeast part of Serra da Estrela, about 20 km from the highest point of Portugal, the tower (2000 mt).

For 800 years that the wool labour exists as one of the main woollen goods centre of Europe. Great natural city or surrounding figures became determinant for all de discovery of the XV and XVI centuries: exploring the Atlantic, the sea route to India, discovering America and Brasil, the first journey of circum navigation the earth. Covilhã is situated in the centre of the region where are located 9 from 10 Portuguese historical villages.

The cuisine, special reference to Serra's cheese, the wines of Cova da Beira and the especially appreciated little buck and lamb.

The parking area is very small. Only one elevator in the hotel.

breakfast and personel

we asked for a smoking room via the site, we arrived, they told us we couldn't smoke in our room, after a bit of nagging we finally got our smoking room. And we stepped out of the lift on the 4 floor and saw that all the rooms on that floor were smoking rooms. So why the difficulty when we checked in?

1) perfect location in Covilha City. The highest mountains of Portugal is just in front of the city; 2) perfect rooms with very tasty breakfast;

Everything was perfect !!!! I suggest this hotel to everyone who will travel to the mountains. No disadvantages at all.

Breakfast and rooms were good. Bed and bathroom were comfortable and very good.

O quarto era de boa dimenção para três e comfortável. A casa de banho tambem de boa dimenção com tudo. O pequeno almoço buffet bom e variado. Pessoal simpático e disponivel.

Terem serviço de lavandaria era uma mais valia por a região ser de clima húmido de neve e de chuva! Terem o outro elevador a dar serventia aos clientes.
